For the second year in a row, the Keller ISD Education Foundation provided funding to the Keller ISD Cosmetology Program to assist with the purchase of program supplies for students with a financial need. This year several students will graduate with not only their diplomas but also their cosmetology license, in part because of these grants.

“The supplies these students need to participate in the Cosmetology program can exceed $2,000 over the course of three years,” Leslee Shepherd, Director of Keller ISD’s Career and Technical Education Program said. “This can be a major financial hardship on some families in our district.”

Last month, the Keller ISD Education Foundation presented Leslee Shepherd and Dr. Rick Westfall, Superintendent of Keller ISD, with a check for $3,200 to pay for these program supplies. This brings the total donated to the Cosmetology program to over $5,000.

“The Keller ISD Education Foundation’s vision is for all students within Keller ISD to have educational opportunities like this,” Paige Bussey, Executive Director of the Keller ISD Education Foundation said. “To know that some of these students will be able to directly enter the workforce in a field they are passionate about with ZERO debt—it makes me really proud of the work the foundation is doing.”
